Awkwafina

Awkwafina began as an American performer and rapper, releasing sly tracks that tackled questions of race and sexual identity with a comedic twist. Prior to her move into Hollywood, she could make a few songs. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first musical encounter. She performed on the trumpet. In addition to classical and jazz, the young Nora started to study hip-hop during her teens. In college, she focused on her studies. She took up a degree in women's studies as well as journalism.
